The Bromley MusicLand Music School is located on top of the shop in Downham Bromley. It consists of four state of the art teaching studios, equipped with keyboards and pianos in three of them, and a guitar studio. Our highly trained staff of five teachers conduct small teaching sessions in groups of up to 7, which around 400 students attend weekly for one hour each time. Students wishing to learn piano/keyboard have to be 5 years or older; rock-and-pop guitar students can enrol from the age of 9 and up. Our oldest student is currently 80 years of age, and is doing very well! Adults and children are taught in different groups, and ability is also taken into consideration.
Grade examinations can be taken at our centre through the London College of Music accredited examining board during three sessions per year. 42 students took part in our November 2006 session, with a 98% pass rate. 23 students obtained a merit (75% and over), while 6 students passed with distinction (85% and over). The three highest scores were obtained by:
-
Jenny Sharpe – Electronic Keyboard Grade 8 90%
-
Aaron Rose - Electronic Keyboard Grade 1 89%
-
Rahavi Gnanachandra – Electronic Keyboard Grade 1 88%Ian Soulsby – Electronic Keyboard Grade 1 88%
There is usually a waiting list to start, which is more reason to enrol as soon as possible. Our friendly, experienced shop staff can fill in an enrolment form over the phone for you on the shop number 020 8698 7300 during normal shop hours (09h30 – 17h30), or you can enrol in person. They can also advise you on a suitable instrument for your prospective studies, as they are all players themselves. Do visit the shop for demonstrations of the latest products.
